There has been a major hill to climb at St James, with the building being declared as in danger of imminent collapse. But after major restoration work and a new extension build by the proceeds of a legacy, St James is back in the Church business with a diversity of new initiatives to reach out to the community.
Housing development has taken the population from around 500 to 2800 in a ten years and more major housing development is planed, with the next batch of 80 homes being commenced in January 2011.
Expectation is in the air as the years of being weighed down with issues of the building are giving way to a new hope for the future with the exploration of Fresh Expressions of being Church.
Action Church, which is our take on Messy Church, and TEN4TEN30 have been proving popular, and our first Cell will commence in September 2010, but we still need a great deal of prayer support to regain the central position in the community that St James once had.
We are confident that the Lord is in the driving seat, and it is in faith that we follow.
